Facilities in Westendorf

Most of Westendorf's facilities are outdoor or in private hotels. In the former case there's tobogganing, paragliding, ballooning, cleared winter walks, a natural ice rink or you may take a sleigh ride. Horse riding is possible in an indoor arena; you can also try bowling at one of two nine-pin venues and there are several places to play billiards. The parish church of St Nikolaus was first mentioned in 1320, and rebuilt in Gothic style in 1500. After the church and village were destroyed in 1630, the church was rebuilt again in 1770. There are baroque elements with ceiling fresco paintings by Matthias Kirchner. The ceiling in the long part was made by Josef Tattensberger from Salzburg. In 1977 the new organ was consecrated.
