Macugnaga's non-skiing identity is largely based on its strong traditions and local talents, rather than any significant tourism infrastructure. The biggest building is the Congress Hall, which can accommodate up to 250 delegates and can be used to provide gymnasium style facilities when not required for other purposes. Those other purposes may include a performance by The Monterosa Chorus which was formed in 1971 from local people, including alpine guides and ski teachers who shared a common passion for the traditional local music. The group has been led since its inception by Enrico Mincheli, who has performed all over Italy and neighbouring countries to enthusiastic reviews.
Apart from the famous church, you can taste the heritage of Macugnaga in the three museums. These include the House museum where the facade is decorated with wood carvings that have traditionally been made by the Walser people since time out of mind. There is also a mountain museum and a geological museum. Apart from these fixed attractions you can skate on one of the two natural rinks, where curling and ice hockey are sometimes played, or try paragliding and hang gliding with the Delta Club Monterosa.
