Swimming is probably a good idea here as it was the 'health giving' waters that attracted the first visitors in the 1860s, leading to the railway link and the establishment of a tourist office in 1890 (more recent developments include underwater jet massage).

There are three indoor hotel pools open to the public.

For those with plenty of après-ski sports energy there are four toboggan runs, the longest 8.5km (over five miles) , and the chance to try Eisstockschiessen, a central European version of curling.

Winter walkers have 30km (19 miles) of prepared paths including a 5km (3 mile) route on the sunny terrace of Madrisa to the Alp Garfiun. Other outdoor activities include snowshoe tours and horseback riding. You can also travel by horse drawn sleigh to Aeuja, Monbiel or Alp Garflun. There are indoor tennis and badminton courts in the nearby hamlet of Küblis as well as squash courts. Hang-gliding and para-gliding with an instructor are other possibilities. The new sports centre is a major attraction, It's ice rink is used for skating, hockey and both traditional and Bavarian curling.

Excursions in the area include trips (on the free local bus) to the sulphur spring at Bad Serneus. This centre in the Hotel Bad Serneus has water at 34 degrees Cecius (94 degrees Farenheit) Various medical therapies and massage are available.
