Facilities in Kirchdorf

Most of Kirchdorf's winter facilities, besides the shops, bars and restaurants, are outdoors. However a luxurious new health and fitness centre did open for the 2000 season, offering a variety of saunas, solarium, massage services and many other health and beauty techniques. There are 100km (19 miles) of prepared winter hiking trails and the luxury of a free shuttle bus for hikers to help you get about. You can take a guided snowshoe hike on a less well prepared route or just ride in a sleigh or slide down the 2km (one and a quarter mile) long toboggan run at Gasteig. Of course the additional facilities of St Johann are very near at hand, including a major indoor swimming pool complex. Named the Panorama Badewelt indoor swimming pool, it is open from 8.30am to 9pm daily and includes a giant water slide, parent and child pool, outdoor pool (36°C), sauna, steam bath, solarium and tennis hall. St Johann's other indoor facilities include four places to play billiards and town library. You can also take a further short 16km (10 miles) trip to the casino in Kitzbühel should a spot of gambling appeal. Excursions to Salzburg and Innsbruck are also easy and popular.
